AP Psychology

AP Psychology is one of the most popular elective courses at our school. Taught by Mr. Anderson, this college-level class provides an overview of the major topics in psychology including the history of psychology, research methods, biological bases of behavior, sensation and perception, consciousness, learning, cognition, motivation and emotion, developmental psychology, personality, testing and individual differences, abnormal psychology, treatment of psychological disorders, and social psychology.

With a mix of lectures, class discussions, videos, and hands-on activities, Mr. Anderson does a great job making the material interesting and engaging. He encourages critical thinking and has high expectations for students to read the textbook and come to class prepared to contribute. His passion for psychology is contagious!

The class is fast-paced and requires a lot of memorization of key terms, theories, and concepts. Mr. Anderson gives weekly quizzes to help prepare us for the AP exam in May. While the amount of material covered can be overwhelming at times, students agree that by the end of the course you come away with a thorough foundation in psychology that puts you at an advantage in college psych courses.

Here's what a few students have said about the class:

"AP Psych is by far my favorite class this year. Mr. Anderson is an awesome teacher who knows how to keep us interested in the topic." - Chris R.

"Be prepared to work hard in AP Psych but it's completely worth it. I've learned so much fascinating stuff that actually applies to everyday life." - Sarah P.

"I'll admit I found psychology kind of boring and abstract before taking this class. Mr. Anderson has opened my eyes to how relevant it is. I notice examples of concepts we learn about all the time now in my relationships and the world around me." - James T.

"AP Psych is challenging but Mr. Anderson supports us really well. Going over past FRQ prompts in class and having review sessions before the AP exam has also helped boost my confidence." - Emily S.

AP Psychology is a demanding yet engaging class that provides students with a strong foundation in the field through an experienced teacher. Those willing to put in the work come away with critical knowledge about human thought and behavior.
